No one will ever know how great a fighter pilot New Zealander Cobber Kain might have been, but in his short wartime service, he was credited with 14 confirmed victories and was the RAF's first flying ace. By mid 1940, he was suffering with fatigue and was sent on leave but, as a farewell gesture to his squadron comrades, he performed a short aerial display which resulted in a fatal crash. He
